The (Numero de identificacion de Extranjeros- NIE) is a tax identification number of Spain’s foreigners. This unique number allows you to carry out any economic activity in Spain, including buying a house, starting a company, or when appointed as a company’s administrator.

Incorporating a company in Spain takes several weeks, and it depends on the complexity of each case, including (NIE requirements and shareholder’s nationality).

A proof of the foreign investor’s existence will be needed by the tax authorities and the Spanish notary. A notarial affidavit (with the correct wording) document is the preferred document for this purpose. Except for an excerpt of a public body, such as the chamber of commerce, the company’s house, or the mercantile registrar could be used.

Yet, we strongly recommend the notarial, as a result of our experience.
